Baystate Health, based in western Massachusetts, is a not-for-profit, multi-institutional, integrated health care organization serving over one million people throughout western New England. Baystate Health, with a workforce of about 12,000 employees, is the largest private employer in the region and includes the entities that follow.
Baystate Medical Center
Baystate Medical Center is a 716-bed independent academic medical center and a training site for the University of Massachusetts Medical School – Baystate and is also affiliated with Tufts University School of Medicine. As a major referral care center and the only Level 1 trauma center and pediatric trauma center for western Massachusetts, Baystate Medical Center has one of New England’s busiest emergency rooms. In addition, the medical center offers the Baystate Children’s Hospital, Baystate Heart & Vascular Program and the Baystate Regional Cancer Program, among other advanced specialty medical, diagnostic, and surgical services. Baystate Medical Center provides the region with the highest level of care for conditions such as cancer, acute and chronic cardiovascular illness, nervous system illness, digestive illness, and other diseases that affect the major organ systems of the body. Baystate Medical Center has been ranked as one of the nation’s top hospitals for 2015-16 by U.S. News & World Report, a 2015 Truven® Healthcare Analytics 100 Top Hospital, Healthgrades America’s Best Hospitals Top 100 Hospital recipient, Truven® Healthcare Analytics 50 Top Cardiovascular Hospital, a Magnet hospital for nursing excellence, and a multiple winner of the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence.
Baystate Children’s Hospital
Baystate Children’s Hospital is the only accredited full-service children’s hospital in the region and provides a comprehensive range of pediatric primary care and inpatient and outpatient subspecialty services. Among Baystate Children’s Hospital’s Springfield-based services are the region’s only neonatal and pediatric intensive care units, the Baystate Family Advocacy Center, the Sadowsky Family Pediatric Emergency Department, and the Baystate Children’s Specialty Center.
Baystate Franklin Medical Center
Baystate Franklin Medical Center, located in Greenfield, Massachusetts, is an 89-bed acute care hospital with a new surgical center that opened in June 2016. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient services to residents of Franklin County and surrounding communities. Specialized programs include wound care and hyperbaric medicine, heart and vascular care, cancer care, family-centered obstetrical care, sports medicine, specialty medical and surgical services, inpatient behavioral medicine, and 24-hour emergency services.
Baystate Noble Hospital
Baystate Noble Hospital, based in Westfield, Massachusetts, became part of Baystate Health on July 1, 2015. This 97-bed hospital offers a variety of inpatient and outpatient services including medical, surgical, pulmonary rehabilitation, acute inpatient rehabilitation, cardiac, behavioral health and emergency services for over 100,000 local residents. Baystate Noble Hospital’s network also includes Noble Medical Group Primary Care Physicians and Specialists, Baystate Home Health, and Noble Sports & Rehabilitation Center.
Baystate Wing Hospital
Baystate Wing Hospital is a 74-bed community hospital in Palmer, Massachusetts that offers 24-hour emergency care as well as a broad range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services, including comprehensive outpatient behavioral health and addiction recovery services. The hospital also has an outpatient satellite facility located in Ware, MA. Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center offers 24-hour emergency services, including a pledge that patients will see a provider within 30 minutes of arrival, and a broad range of outpatient medical and surgical services, including cancer services through the Baystate Regional Cancer Program. Together, Baystate Wing Hospital, Baystate Mary Lane Outpatient Center, and the hospital’s affiliated community medical centers serve patients living in Hampden, Hampshire, and Worcester counties.
Baystate Medical Practices
Baystate Medical Practices is a multi-specialty, academic practice that includes over 850 physicians and advanced practitioners providing primary and specialty care at over 50 locations throughout the Pioneer Valley and western Massachusetts. The mission of BMP is to provide outstanding clinical care that is safe, of the highest quality and value, and patient-centered. Physicians serve as faculty of the University of Massachusetts Medical School-Baystate, and are the principle educators and mentors for over 360 Baystate Medical Center residents and fellows.
Baystate Home Health
Baystate Home Health, formerly known as Baystate Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, is currently providing home health, hospice and palliative care services to patients throughout our region. A recent consolidation of three established visiting nursing and hospice agencies, including Baystate Noble VNH and Baystate Wing VNA and Hospice creates a stronger coordinated approach to care at home. Standardized care through evidence-based practice ensures that patients and families throughout the Baystate Health system will receive the highest quality care.
Baystate Home Heath and Baystate Hospice clinicians and caregivers provide specialty care in heart failure, pulmonary disease and other chronic illness management, joint replacement rehabilitation, wound management, telemedicine, and palliative and end-of-life care, in a patient’s preferred setting, at home.
Baystate Home Infusion & Respiratory Services
Baystate Home Infusion & Respiratory Services provides a wide range of infusion care, enteral tube and oral feeding products, respiratory care (including oxygen, sleep apnea treatment, and ventilator care) and durable medical equipment to patients throughout western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut. It includes two retail stores offering a range of medical equipment and supplies, from wheelchairs, lift chairs, scooters, to home safety products.
Baycare Health Partners
Baycare Health Partners Inc. is a physician/hospital organization that includes four Baystate Health hospitals and approximately 1,400 physicians in about 200 medical practices in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin counties. Baycare® fosters physician/hospital cooperation and provides managed care contracting services for its members. The Baycare® subsidiary, Pioneer Valley Accountable Care, LLC (PVAC), is an accountable care organization (ACO) whose goal is to reduce the cost of care while improving quality and the patient experience. PVAC is one of 18 ACOs nationally participating in the Next Generation ACO (NGACO) model launched by the CMS Innovation Center. Approximately 35,000 Medicare beneficiaries are attributed to PVAC. In 2015, Baycare® also formed a pediatric ACO subsidiary, Pediatric Accountable Care Organization of Pioneer Valley (PACO).

Health New England, based in Springfield, Massachusetts, is a nonprofit health plan serving members in Massachusetts and Connecticut. Health New England offers a range of health care plans in the commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare markets. It is one of the largest managed care organizations in western Massachusetts, consistently rated as one of the top health plans in the country.
